Project Co-ordinator- Befriending and social opportunities for older people

£27k Southwark, SE London

Maternity leave cover 1 year– full-time

We are looking to recruit a project co-ordinator with excellent communication and team work skills to work in a small charity providing befriending and social opportunities through volunteers. You will work within a team matching older people with volunteers, and devising and delivering social activities which combat isolation.

Location.
Our offices are located in Southwark close to East Dulwich station. The candidate would have to be willing to travel with the London Borough of Southwark and occasional out of hours work is required.

Contract
Fixed term from March 20113 to April 2014
There will be a 3 month probationary period

Hours
35 per week ( Monday to Friday)

Salary
Point 28 of the NJC scale £27,007

Benefits
25 days annual plus statutory holidays

The vision of Dulwich Helpline and Southwark Churches Care is an enrichment of the local community in which older people feel respected, supported and part of life going on around them: a community that older people can make a valuable contribution and in which people of all ages are enabled to get to know one another.

The core services we offer helps older people to participate in community life either through having a volunteer visit on a regular basis, offering companionship, help with household administration, help with household tasks, and assistance in the garden. We run around 20 social groups covering everything from art appreciation to chair based yoga.

In addition to this we run inter-generational projects in local schools.

We are looking for a bright motivated individual the opportunity to gain significant experience of voluntary sector services .
